CHILDREN'S EYECARE
YOUNG EYES IN SAFE HANDS
CHILDREN'S EYECARE
In children, learning and development are directly related to vision. Taking good care of their eyes is crucial for both their health and the development of their minds and personalities. Whether our young patients are choosing a new pair of glasses or treating an eye condition, they can count on a helpful and stress-free environment.
ARE MY CHILDREN'S
EYE TEST FREE?
Yes! For eye exams, the NHS will provide the cost of a eye examination for children up to the age of 16 (19 if enrolled full-time in school). Children can also receive "free" spectacles from Andrew Laird Opticians with the option to upgrade if you to higher quality frames and lenses.
Without having your child's eyes examined, you won't be able to be certain of any underlying eye conditions. However, some indicators you can see are;
-
Headaches
-
Tired Eyes
-
Frowning
-
Difficulties reading the board
-
Learning difficulty
-
short attention span
-
Dislike of bright conditions
-
Rubbing eyes frequently
-
Covering or closing one eye
-
Turning one eye in or out
WHAT IS MYOPIA & WHY IS IT AN ISSUE?
Shortsightedness, or myopia, is a very common eye condition that makes nearby items appear clear while distant objects appear blurry. Given the dramatic rise in myopia incidence over the past few decades and the challenges it poses for visual development and schooling, it is critical to make sure that myopia is identified and treated as soon as feasible. We provide contact lenses and spectacle lenses with myopia management technologies. The effectiveness of both treatments in slowing the progression of myopia has been established, so your child can still choose between contacts and glasses.
